Its not looking at all like Christmas......

Sunny and cold with a side of Sunny and cold....
No snow and none in the forecast. My fish, however, are thriving in the koi pond, even with the inch of ice on top. The bubbler is doing its bubbling thing and keeping the water moving enough that they swim around under this inch of ice. We check them daily and they seem to be enjoying their fishdom...
all for now

Reverb10- Lesson Learned..

December 17 – Lesson Learned

December 17 – Lesson Learned What was the best thing you learned about yourself this past year? And how will you apply that lesson going forward? (Author: Tara Weaver)

Perserverance was definitely the thing I've learned this year. The big theme that seems to have penetrated every aspect of my life this year was this phrase that life has been placing in front of me at every moment this year. And here it is: Life is a journey, not a destination. Every day you take steps in life, and if you don't enjoy them, no, acutally SAVOR them, then you spend your life waiting for the "next big thing". Which is a painful and unsatisfying way to live. Over the past year I've gained weight, lost weight, moved, had a surgery, started a life with a wonderful man and this phrase has moved my being: "Life is a journey, not a destination."
Needless to say, that philosophy has helped me find the laughter when undergoing surgery in a blizzard, enjoying moving into a new home and dealing with the aging of not only myself, but my parents and my loved ones.
Going forward, savoring those precious moments, those quiet time enjoying my lover's company having coffee in the morning, walking the dog, meeting new people just squeezing the marrow out of my everyday existance is the thing I've gained for the coming year.

Reverb10-Friendship

December 16 – Friendship
by admin on 12/15/2010 in Prompts
December 16 – Friendship How has a friend changed you or your perspective on the world this year? Was this change gradual, or a sudden burst? (Author: Martha Mihalick)

My closest friendship is with my significant other/mate/life partner Bill. At times that are trying, he is there. At time that are happy, he is there. This is probably the first relationship in my life that I have had someone who is ALWAYS there, whether it be by phone, or email or in person, he is there.

Change is a constant process, a journey not a destination..Having a friend/lover who trusts my instincts, values my perspective and loves me unconditionally has changed me from a person who was very suspect of the world, to a person who sees the possibilities and embraces the changes that nature and the world bring to my being. My suspicion of the world's motives is less of an obsession and more of a curiosity at this point. I'm discovering that I can be quite happy understanding that I am powerless to change certain things in life and that I can be quite motivated to work to change things that I CAN change...

WTFOMG of the week

Murphy has a new law. I'm assuming you haven't heard it yet, so I will share it with you: Murphy says,"If you lose something,as soon as you replace it, the lost one will show up." This has been proven with scissors, twine, gloves, hats, appliances, etc, but never more than this week when my lost engagement ring showed up in the dryer after a month of searching, finding a replacement and ordering it. Waiting for the replacement to show up, only to shake out the newly dry contents of the dryer and hear the ting, ting, ting of a little silver ring hitting the floor. I thought I had lost it while taking Tucker out for a walk, throwing his poopbag in the trash and, after much hysteria, noting that it was not on my finger. Mind you, this has been FOUR weeks of laundry, which is about two loads a week that the ring has been floating around in the dryer, only to show up the day after my new ring arrives!!! I emptied a public trash can and went through the contents. I'm lucky not to have leprosy after that. But, I now have TWO engagement rings and this one is securely on the finger.

Isn't it funny???

Isn't it funny that when you buy a car, they are all jazzed to get you up and running. bringing you coffee and all that jazz, but when something goes wrong with the car, it takes days for them to get it in for warranty work??? Our car, Liam, a little silver Nissan Versa, decided to poop out his air conditioner when the weather turned crazy hot. So B calls the dealer we bought it from and tells us "Friday."
That was 3 days ago. Needless to say, we found a dealer closer ( the original dealer is about a forty minute drive from us). So Liam is going on Monday to see the local Nissan dealer, who, if he gets us fixed up quickly, will get a really nice plug on our blog. If it doesn't.....weeeeellll....
When we bought my car, Murphy...(yes, we name our cars!) we went to Cherry Hill Nissan, in New Jersey, where we dealt with this hilarious guy named Duke. Duke put us in his cubicle, fed us candy and generally treated us to a hilarious evening of new car buying, ending every sentence with "God Bless" and " Mazel Tov". I'm not even kidding!!!

I love my life right now. Almost every experience I seem to have is like street theatre. Life amazes me!!!!
breathe deeply...

Too darn hot!!!!

We have hit a dry spell/heat wave that is just unbelievable. But the garden lives on. The heirloom tomatoes we planted are going great guns and we go out each night to the plot to water them and talk dirty to them so they grow bulbous, juicy tomatoes. Tucker will barely go outside, save taking a little pee walk in the afternoon and morning. The evenings give us a little relief, but only a little.
Tomorrow:

Painting the dining room.....

Well, we started summer project number who knows. We started painting the "formerly institutional green" dining room a gorgeous shade of white that has just a speck of green in it. The light in the room just sparkles as it comes in from the garden. B found a beautiful prairie-style chandelier that he installed. It's amazing how little he swears when he is doing a project. When I cook, it's like sailors have just unloaded on the docks and are ready for liberty. He claims he just hasn't been challenged enough on a project for him to let his "inner sailor" out.

It's been extremely muggy and hot here. The plants are on 2-a-day waterings and our garden plot is getting a dousing every evening.

Tucker has been challenged by the heat. He's crabby and doesn't relish going out for his walks.

I promise that pictures will be coming soon..........
Really!!

My New Home

My B and I just bought a new 1890's home, with a gorgeous garden and, I gotta say, it's just US. Almost a year ago, we moved into our first apartment together, which was a major "editing and blending" deal that we both thoroughly enjoyed. Scaling down to things we love and getting rid of the things you keep around, "just in case"
I will actually start posting some pictures. We are in the process of having wood floors refinished, so our life is a bit like camping or living in a space that takes major maneuvers to get around.
Life is really good, though.
We have hoopla. We have dramas, but each night I go to sleep with a smile on my face and each morning I get to wake up next to the man I love..
So there.

My first post

After weeks of procrastination, I've finally started blogging again. My next post might actually have something of some substance. Yes, maybe even substance....
